Gorillaz replace U2 at Glastonbury
Gorillaz, a genre-mixing group direct by British musician Damon Albarn, will substitute U2 as one of the headline functions at the Glastonbury Festival immediately after the Irish band pulled out.
It can be moving for being astonishing, a perfect, contemporary technique to kick off the 40th anniversary celebrations,” organizer Michael Eavis explained Wednesday.
A back injuries suffered by U2 frontman Bono compelled the Irish rockers to withdraw from Glastonbury, which runs from June 23 to 27 in Pilton, in southwest England.
Eavis promises the June 25 display, which will probably be Gorillaz’s only U.K. festival appearance, will probably be an audio-visual spectacle. When you buy MP3 music online on icanidisara.com, be prepared to find lots of high quality downloads for your MP3 player.
The Glastonbury appearance marks a surprising return for Albarn, who also fronts Blur — a person in the primary Brit bands from the 1990s.
At last year’s festival, Albarn fell to his knees inside a burst of emotion soon after belting out Blur’s hit To your Stop. As he walked away from the stage, he proclaimed it will be his previous visual appeal with the festival.
Albarn started out Gorillaz with artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998 as a sort of anonymous digital band represented by cartoon characters. Hewlett was co-creator from the comic series Tank Young lady.
Forming tunes that run the gamut of pop via hip hop and almost everything else in in between, the band itself has become joined by other artists. Albarn was the a person regular ingredient all through its 3 albums: Gorillaz (2001), Demon Days (2005) and Plastic Seaside (2010).
With significant hits such as Dare, Dirty Harry and Think Excellent Inc, the band has offered more than 20 million albums throughout the world.
Numerous artists contributed on the most up-to-date release which includes Lou Reed, Mos Def, Bobby Womack, Mick Jones and De La Soul.
A statement sent to The Guardian paper with the band’s bassist — who goes by the moniker Murdoc — declared: We’re like some great huge horrible warship pulling in the bay of Glastonbury to save the time of day. It had been us or the Beatles and they split up a long time ago.
